Getting Organized When You Have Too Much Stuff

December 28th, 2008 · no comments

I was working on my January goals and realized that being organized isn’t as hard if you don’t have a lot of stuff.  I have to admit I have a lot of stuff.   I always thought that if my stuff was organized and neat and I had room to put things away that I really didn’t have too much stuff.  Well, we’ve past that point of too much so now my goal is to get rid of some of the items we just don’t use.

How I Made Money By Being Organized

Wrecked Lexus

I know it has been a while since I posted but life kind of got in the way.  Everyone has ups and downs so I won’t bore you with my challenges the past 30 days.  Everything is going better now so it’s time to help you be more organized.

One thing that happened a couple of weeks ago is that my husband borrowed my car and was in an accident with a deer.  My husband didn’t get hurt and the deer ran off.  My car on the other hand wasn’t so lucky.  It’s amazing how much money it costs to fix what looked like moderate damage.  Click to read more →

Your Daily 15 Minutes – Getting Your Online Inventory Neat

October 7th, 2008 · 3 comments

I know a lot of people sell items online on their own website, eBay, Craigslist, Amazon and more.  I sell on all of these venues and have thousands of items to keep track of.  It took me a while (7 years) to finally come up with a system to keep track of everything.

In all of the years I have been selling, I have only misplaced one item.  It was a postcard of a carnation flower from 1903.  We had just finished moving all the inventory from one side of the warehouse to the other side and during the move I lost it.  Click to read more →

iPhone and Franklin Covey Planner

iPhone and Franklin Covey Planner

It doesn’t matter who you are, we all need to have some way to organize our lives. I have used a Franklin Planner for more than 14 years and I don’t go anywhere without it but I have to admit my new favorite organizer has to be my iPhone. That is a great invention and it works really well for my needs. I take attend quite a few seminars, have appointments for the doctor and a husband I need to keep track of. I write all of my appointments down in my Planner then I enter them in my iPhone. I know it seems like twice the amount of work but I always have one or the other with me.

I am helping a friend sell some stuff on ebay and Craigslist because her one goal before winter is to be able to fit her car in the garage.  Wow, she has so much stuff in there that only one of their two cars fits in the three car garage.  There are couches, dining room set, exercise bikes, dog crates, a Christmas tree, bicycles, a treadmill and just mountains of stuff.  You should have seen us.  We pulled everything out into the driveway after work last night to try to get the big stuff out and take pictures so we could list it online.  Click to read more →

junkmail

Everyone it seems gets a lot of mail. Even my dogs get mail addressed to them (can they really vote for a city council seat?). I have been able to reduce my junk mail considerably by signing up for Direct Marketing Association’s mail preference service where you can get your name and address removed from many direct mailing lists.

Not only do we get mail at home but we also have a post office box for mail for our businesses that I pick up twice a week. Click to read more →
