It makes sense to start with the year then the month and date. I wish I had started mine this way but with over a thousand documents named I think I have to stay with the current naming convention. I've been doing something similar, and this will help me move forward. The only thing I'm doing much differently is the date. For 8/31/08 is 20080831. This way, I can sort by date more easily.
